Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website www.cgkafricaconnect.org and the events, programmes and services offered through it (together, the “Platform”), operated by CGK Africa Connect (“CGK Africa”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, and be able to form a legally binding contract to use the Platform. By using the Platform you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you meet these requirements.

CGK Africa is a movement connecting business owners, investors, startups and partners to opportunities that advance economic growth across Africa. Through the Platform we publish information about events, leadership, opportunities and partners, and we enable you to register for events, subscribe to updates and contact us.

We may add, modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the Platform at any time without liability. We do not guarantee that the Platform will always be available or error-free.

When you register for an event, the following apply:

• you must provide accurate and complete registration details;
• some events are free while others require payment of a ticket fee, which is stated at the point of registration;
• paid tickets are priced in Tanzanian Shillings (TZS) unless otherwise stated, and payment is processed by third-party payment providers subject to their own terms;
• a registration is confirmed only once you receive confirmation from us and, where applicable, payment has been received; and
• places may be limited and are allocated subject to availability and any eligibility criteria for the event.

Unless a specific event states otherwise, ticket fees are non-refundable except where an event is cancelled by us or where a refund is required by applicable law. We may vary event dates, venues, speakers or programmes, and will make reasonable efforts to notify registered attendees of material changes.

You agree not to:

• use the Platform for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose;
• submit false, misleading or another person's information without authorisation;
• upload or transmit viruses, malware or any code that may damage the Platform or others;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform, its systems or data;
• scrape, harvest or collect data from the Platform without our written consent; or
• infringe the intellectual-property or other rights of CGK Africa or any third party.

You are responsible for any information you submit through the Platform, including enquiries and registration details. You confirm that you have the right to provide it and that it does not breach these Terms or any law. Where you submit personal data about other individuals, you confirm you are authorised to do so.

The Platform and all its content, including text, graphics, logos, the CGK Africa name and brand, images, and software, are owned by or licensed to CGK Africa and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may view and download content for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify or create derivative works from any part of the Platform without our prior written permission.

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, partners, sponsors, opportunities and payment providers. We provide these for convenience and do not control, endorse or accept responsibility for their content, products, services or privacy practices. Your dealings with any third party are solely between you and that party.

The Platform and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Information published on the Platform, including about events and opportunities, is for general information only and does not constitute professional, financial or investment advice. You should obtain independent advice before acting on it.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CGK Africa and its directors, employees and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CGK Africa and its representatives from any claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable expenses arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Platform, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the Platform you acknowledge that we process personal data as set out in that Policy and in accordance with Tanzania’s Personal Data Protection Act, 2022.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or applicable law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law, will continue to apply.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tanzania. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve any concern amicably.
